1 3 ATTEBERRY, SMITH, LENSING, WITT, STEVENS,
1 4 REYNOLDS, JOCHUM, RICHARDSON, COHOON, D. TAYLOR,
1 5 SENG, TREMMEL, QUIRK, DOTZLER, T. TAYLOR, FALCK,
1 6 O'BRIEN, FOEGE, MYERS, KUHN, and CONNORS
1 7 A Resolution requesting the Speaker of the House of
1 8 Representatives to appoint a committee on veterans
1 9 affairs.
1 10 WHEREAS, approximately 280,000 veterans reside in
1 11 the State of Iowa; and
1 12 WHEREAS, important public policy issues relating to
1 13 veterans are often considered and acted upon by state
1 14 legislatures; and
1 15 WHEREAS, some 30 other states have established
1 16 legislative committees to address public policy issues
1 17 relating to veterans; NOW THEREFORE,
1 18 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 19 That the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
1 20 pursuant to House Rule 46, is requested to appoint a
1 21 House standing committee on veterans affairs to
1 22 consider public policy issues relating to the state's
1 23 veterans.
