1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 279.60 DISPLAY OF UNITED STATES
1 2 FLAG IN CLASSROOMS.
1 3 In addition to the requirements of section 280.5, the board
1 4 of directors of each school district shall cause a American-
1 5 made United States flag in good condition to be displayed
1 6 during school hours in each public school classroom in the
1 7 district.
1 8 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 280.6A OBSERVANCE – MOMENT OF
1 9 SILENCE.
1 10 The board of directors of a school district may establish a
1 11 daily observance of one minute of silence in each classroom.
1 12 A teacher employed by a school district may also establish a
1 13 daily observance of one minute of silence in the teacher's
1 14 classroom. During any daily observance of the one-minute
1 15 period of silence, each teacher responsible for a classroom
1 16 shall ensure that students remain attentive so that each
1 17 student may reflect or engage in any silent activity that does
1 18 not interfere with other students in their exercise of their
1 19 choice.
