1 1 Section 1. Section 89A.3, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 6. The commissioner shall adopt rules
1 4 permitting elevators which are permitted for residential use
1 5 to be used in authorized public locations. Authorized public
1 6 locations include churches and houses of worship, schools,
1 7 fraternal organizations, and other similar locations, where
1 8 the elevators are only used to transport a restricted number
1 9 of persons with disabilities.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill requires the labor commissioner to adopt rules
1 12 permitting residential elevators in churches and houses of
1 13 worship, schools, fraternal organizations, and similar
1 14 locations where the elevators are only used to transport a
1 15 restricted number of persons with disabilities.
