1 1 Section 1. Section 135B.7, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. The department shall adopt rules
1 4 permitting chiropractors licensed under chapter 151 to utilize
1 5 pathology and radiology services of a hospital for the benefit
1 6 and convenience of patients of the chiropractors. These
1 7 services shall include, but are not limited to, laboratory
1 8 testing and results, X rays, computerized temography scans,
1 9 and magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill provides for access by licensed chiropractors to
1 12 designated hospital services. The bill provides that the Iowa
1 13 department of public health shall adopt rules permitting
1 14 chiropractors licensed under Code chapter 151 to utilize
1 15 hospital pathology and radiology services for the benefit and
1 16 convenience of their patients. These services shall include,
1 17 but are not limited to, laboratory testing and results, X
1 18 rays, computerized temography scans, and magnetic resonance
1 19 imaging procedures.
