1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 21.12 OPEN MEETINGS EXCEPTION –
1 2 NOTATION IN LEGISLATION.
1 3 When a bill or joint resolution is requested, the
1 4 legislative service bureau shall make an initial determination
1 5 of whether the bill or joint resolution may create an
1 6 exception to the requirement that meetings of a governmental
1 7 body be open to the public. If a determination is made that
1 8 an exception to the open meetings requirements of this chapter
1 9 is created as a result of the bill or joint resolution, that
1 10 fact shall be included in the explanation of the bill or joint
1 11 resolution.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill amends Code chapter 21 concerning open meetings
1 14 requirements by adding a new section providing that when a
1 15 bill or joint resolution is requested, the legislative service
1 16 bureau shall make an initial determination of whether the bill
1 17 or joint resolution may create an exception to the requirement
1 18 that governmental meetings be open to the public. If so, that
1 19 fact must be included in the explanation of the bill or joint
1 20 resolution.
