1 1 Section 1. Section 232.71B, subsection 11, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. h. If after completing the assessment
1 4 process the child protection worker determines, with the
1 5 concurrence of the worker's supervisor and the department's
1 6 area administrator, that a report is a spurious report or that
1 7 protective concerns are not present, the portions of the
1 8 assessment report described under paragraphs "d" and "e" shall
1 9 not be required.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill modifies Code section 232.71B requirements for
1 12 completion of a child abuse assessment report. If, after a
1 13 child protection worker completes the assessment process, the
1 14 worker determines that the child abuse report was spurious or
1 15 that there are not protective concerns present, the assessment
1 16 report need not include identification of the strengths and
1 17 needs of the child and the child's family or the services
1 18 available to address the strengths and needs. Concurrence
1 19 with the worker's determination by the worker's supervisor and
1 20 the department's area administrator is required.
