1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 384.8A ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY LEVY
1 2 FOR CERTAIN CITIES.
1 3 1. A city that qualifies under this section may levy an
1 4 additional emergency levy for deposit in the general fund of
1 5 not to exceed thirteen and one-half cents per thousand dollars
1 6 of taxable value each year for the fiscal year beginning July
1 7 1, 2002, through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006.
1 8 2. A city qualifies for the additional emergency levy if
1 9 the amount of the replacement claim received by the city under
1 10 section 427B.19A, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000,
1 11 exceeded two percent of the city's total revenue for that
1 12 year.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill allows a city to levy an additional emergency
1 15 levy up to 13 1/2 cents per $1,000 of taxable value for up to
1 16 four fiscal years beginning July 1, 2002, if the industrial
1 17 machinery, computers, and equipment replacement claim received
1 18 by the city in fiscal year 2000-2001 exceeded 2 percent of the
1 19 city's total revenues for that fiscal year.
