PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 321.212, subsection 1, paragraph d, 1 2 Code 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 d. The department shall revoke a driver's license 1 4 according to an order issued pursuant to section 901.5, 1 5 subsection 10, for one hundred eighty days. If the person has 1 6 not been issued a driver's license, the issuance of a driver's 1 7 license shall be delayed for one hundred eighty days after the 1 8 person is first eligible. If the person's operating 1 9 privileges have been suspended or revoked at the time the 1 10 person is convicted, the one-hundred-eighty-day revocation 1 11 period shallnotbeginuntilimmediately upon the termination 1 12 of all other suspensions or revocationshave terminated. 1 13 EXPLANATION 1 14 This bill amends Code section 321.212 to provide that if a 1 15 person's driver's license is revoked for certain drug 1 16 offenses, that revocation shall begin immediately upon the 1 17 termination of any other driver's license suspensions or 1 18 revocations that were in effect for the person at the time of 1 19 the person's conviction for the drug offense. Currently, Code 1 20 section 321.212 provides that such a revocation shall not 1 21 begin until all other suspensions or revocations have 1 22 terminated, but does not specify that the revocation begin 1 23 immediately upon the termination of the other suspensions or 1 24 revocations. 1 25 LSB 1657HH 79 1 26 nh/cf/24
