PAG LIN
  1 1 Section 1. Section 321.212, subsection 1, paragraph d,
1 2 Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
  1 3 d. The department shall revoke a driver's license
1 4 according to an order issued pursuant to section 901.5,
1 5 subsection 10, for one hundred eighty days. If the person has
  1 6 not been issued a driver's license, the issuance of a driver's
1 7 license shall be delayed for one hundred eighty days after the
1 8 person is first eligible. If the person's operating
1 9 privileges have been suspended or revoked at the time the
1 10 person is convicted, the one-hundred-eighty-day revocation
1 11 period shall not begin until immediately upon the termination
1 12 of all other suspensions or revocations have terminated.
  1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill amends Code section 321.212 to provide that if a
1 15 person's driver's license is revoked for certain drug
1 16 offenses, that revocation shall begin immediately upon the
1 17 termination of any other driver's license suspensions or
1 18 revocations that were in effect for the person at the time of
1 19 the person's conviction for the drug offense. Currently, Code
1 20 section 321.212 provides that such a revocation shall not
1 21 begin until all other suspensions or revocations have
1 22 terminated, but does not specify that the revocation begin
1 23 immediately upon the termination of the other suspensions or
  1 24 revocations.
