1 1 Section 1. Section 331.904, subsection 1, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended by striking the subsection and inserting in lieu
1 3 thereof the following:
1 4 1. The annual salary of the first and second deputy
1 5 officer, and if more than two deputies are required, each
1 6 additional deputy of the office of auditor, treasurer, and
1 7 recorder, and the deputy in charge of the motor vehicle
1 8 registration and title division, shall be determined by the
1 9 board of supervisors which may consider the recommendation of
1 10 the deputy's principal officer. The board of supervisors
1 11 shall certify the annual salaries of the deputy officers to
1 12 the auditor.
1 13 EXPLANATION
1 14 This bill removes the statutory salary limitations on the
1 15 annual salaries of the deputy officers in the offices of
1 16 county auditor, treasurer, and recorder. Each deputy
1 17 officer's annual salary will be determined by the board of
1 18 supervisors which may consider the recommendation of the
1 19 deputy's principal officer. The board of supervisors shall
1 20 certify the annual salaries of the deputy officers to the
1 21 auditor.
