1 1 Section 1. Section 22.7, Code 2001, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 43. All information contained in an
1 4 application of a person applying for a permit pursuant to
1 5 section 724.7, 724.10, 724.15, 724.17, or 724.19. This
1 6 subsection shall not apply to legitimate requests for such
1 7 information by law enforcement officials, their agents, and
1 8 employees.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill establishes confidentiality provisions in the
1 11 public records chapter pertaining to weapons and pistol or
1 12 revolver permit applications. The bill provides that all
1 13 information contained in an application of a person applying
1 14 for a permit shall be kept confidential. The bill does not
1 15 apply to legitimate requests for such information from law
1 16 enforcement officials, their agents, and employees.
