1 1 Section 1. DOT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY COORDINATOR. The
1 2 director of transportation shall, from among the full-time
1 3 equivalent positions authorized for the state department of
1 4 transportation as of the effective date of this Act, designate
1 5 an interstate highway coordinator. The interstate coordinator
1 6 shall be responsible for coordinating activities with the
1 7 states bordering Iowa to improve highway connections between
1 8 Iowa and the bordering states. The interstate coordinator's
1 9 duties shall include coordinating the completion of U.S.
1 10 highway 30 to connect with interstate highway 88.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill directs the director of transportation to
1 13 designate an interstate highway coordinator from among the
1 14 full-time equivalent positions authorized for the state
1 15 department of transportation. The coordinator shall be
1 16 responsible for coordinating activities with the states
1 17 bordering Iowa to improve highway connections between Iowa and
1 18 the bordering states. The coordinator's duties are to include
1 19 coordination with the state of Illinois regarding the
1 20 completion of U.S. highway 30 to connect with interstate
1 21 highway 88.
