1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY SHOULTZ
1 3 A Concurrent Resolution requesting that the governor
1 4 of the state of Iowa, the department of public
1 5 health, the state board of nursing, the state board
1 6 of medical examiners, the state board of dental
1 7 examiners, and the state board of pharmacy examiners
1 8 streamline the licensing process for immigrants to
1 9 the United States.
1 10 WHEREAS, health care professionals who are
1 11 immigrants to the United States must be licensed by
1 12 the professional licensure division of the department
1 13 of public health; and
1 14 WHEREAS, there are currently twenty different
1 15 licensing boards within the department, each having
1 16 its own criteria and requirements; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the department already accepts
1 18 professionals licensed by a foreign country upon
1 19 recommendation of the medical examiners; and
1 20 WHEREAS, the citizens of the state of Iowa would be
1 21 better served by a process that expedites the
1 22 licensing of professionals that are already qualified
1 23 to practice in a foreign country; NOW THEREFORE,
1 24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 25 SENATE CONCURRING, That the Iowa general assembly
1 26 urges the governor of the state of Iowa, the
1 27 department of public health, the state board of
1 28 nursing, the state board of medical examiners, the
1 29 state board of dental examiners, and the state board
1 30 of pharmacy examiners to streamline the Iowa licensing
2 1 process for licensed health care professionals who are
2 2 immigrants to the United States; and
2 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this
2 4 Resolution be forwarded to the governor of the state
2 5 of Iowa, the department of public health, the state
2 6 board of nursing, the state board of medical
2 7 examiners, the state board of dental examiners, and
2 8 the state board of pharmacy examiners.
