  1  1    Amend House File 2499 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 12, by inserting after the figure
  1  3 "321.446," the following:  "subsections 1, 2, and 4,".
  1  4    #2.  Page 1, line 12, by striking the word "is" and
  1  5 inserting the following:  "are".
  1  6    #3.  Page 1, by striking lines 14 and 15 and
  1  7 inserting the following:
  1  8    "1.  a.  A child under one year of age and weighing
  1  9 less than twenty pounds who is being transported in a
  1 10 motor vehicle subject to registration, except a school
  1 11 bus or motorcycle, shall be secured in a rear-facing
  1 12 child restraint system that meets federal motor
  1 13 vehicle safety standards, and the system shall be used
  1 14 in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  1 15    b.  A child under three six years of age who does
  1 16 not meet the description in paragraph "a" and who is
  1 17 being".
  1 18    #4.  By striking page 1, line 29, through page 2,
  1 19 line 5.
  1 20    #5.  Page 2, line 7, by striking the word "only"
  1 21 and inserting the following:  "only".
  1 22    #6.  Page 2, by striking lines 9 through 19 and
  1 23 inserting the following:
  1 24    "Sec.    .  Section 321.446, Code Supplement 2001,
  1 25 is amended by adding the following new subsection:
  1 26    NEW SUBSECTION.  7.  For purposes of this section,
  1 27 "child restraint system" means a specially designed
  1 28 seating system, including a belt-positioning seat or a
  1 29 booster seat, that meets federal motor vehicle safety
  1 30 standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. } 571.213."
  1 31    #7.  By renumbering as necessary.
