  1  1    Amend House File 2549 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 8, by inserting after line 22 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 284.7, subsection 2, paragraph
  1  5 a, subparagraph (1), Code Supplement 2001, is amended
  1  6 to read as follows:
  1  7    (1)  A Except as provided in subparagraph (3), a
  1  8 career II teacher is a teacher who meets the
  1  9 requirements of subsection 1, paragraph "b", has met
  1 10 the requirements established by the school district
  1 11 that employs the teacher, and is evaluated by the
  1 12 school district as demonstrating the competencies of a
  1 13 career II teacher.  The teacher shall have
  1 14 successfully completed a comprehensive evaluation in
  1 15 order to be classified as a career II teacher.
  1 16    Sec.    .  Section 284.7, subsection 2, paragraph
  1 17 a, Code Supplement 2001, is amended by adding the
  1 18 following new subparagraph:
  1 19    NEW SUBPARAGRAPH.  (3)  Notwithstanding any other
  1 20 provision of this chapter, a teacher with fifteen or
  1 21 more years of successful teaching experience as of
  1 22 July 1, 2002, shall be designated a career II
  1 23 teacher."
