1 1 Amend House File 2557 as follows:
1 2 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 3 clause and inserting the following:
1 4 "Section 1. IOWA ECONOMIC EMERGENCY FUND.
1 5 1. There is appropriated from the Iowa economic
1 6 emergency fund created in section 8.55 to the general
1 7 fund of the state for the fiscal year beginning July
1 8 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2002, the following
1 9 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be used
1 10 for the purpose designated:
1 11 For providing necessary funding to the general fund
1 12 of the state:
1 13 .................................................. $126,544,048
1 14 2. The moneys appropriated in this section are
1 15 declared to be appropriated for emergency expenditures
1 16 as required in section 8.55, subsection 3, paragraph
1 17 "a".
1 18 Sec. 2. LEGISLATIVE APPROPRIATIONS REDUCTION.
1 19 1. The appropriations made from the general fund
1 20 of the state in section 2.12 to the general assembly
1 21 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, and ending
1 22 June 30, 2002, shall be reduced by 2.6 percent.
1 23 2. In order to implement the reductions required
1 24 by this section for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 25 2001, in addition to employee furloughs and other
1 26 expense reductions, notwithstanding the annual salary
1 27 rates authorized for members of the general assembly
1 28 in section 2.10, the salary rates for such members
1 29 shall be reduced by applying a 5 percent reduction to
1 30 the portion of annual salary attributable to the
1 31 period beginning on the effective date of this Act
1 32 through June 30, 2002, as if the members were all paid
1 33 a salary under section 2.10, subsection 4, paragraph
1 34 "a".
1 35 Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 36 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment."
1 37 #2. Title page, by striking lines 1 through 4 and
1 38 inserting the following: "An Act making an
1 39 appropriation to the general fund of the state for the
1 40 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2001, reducing
1 41 appropriations to the legislative branch for that
1 42 fiscal year, and providing an effective date."
