PAG LIN 1 1 Amend Senate File 476, as amended, passed, and 1 2 reprinted by the Senate, as follows: 1 3 #1. Page 5, by inserting after line 9, the 1 4 following: 1 5 "h. Adopt a classroom code of conduct pursuant to 1 6 section 280.28." 1 7 #2. Page 19, by inserting after line 24, the 1 8 following: 1 9 "Sec. . NEW SECTION. 280.28 CLASSROOM CONDUCT 1 10 CODE. 1 11 1. A code of classroom conduct shall be developed 1 12 by each school district, and reviewed on an annual 1 13 basis, commencing with the school budget year 1 14 beginning July 1, 2001. The code shall be adopted by 1 15 the school district board of directors after 1 16 consultation with a classroom conduct committee 1 17 comprised of residents of the school district. The 1 18 committee shall consist of parents, pupils, members of 1 19 the school board, school administrators, teachers, 1 20 counselors employed by the school district, and other 1 21 residents of the school district appointed to the 1 22 committee by the board. The code of classroom conduct 1 23 shall not be required to be uniform across school 1 24 districts, but shall, at a minimum, include the 1 25 following: 1 26 a. A determination of what constitutes dangerous, 1 27 disruptive, or unruly behavior, or behavior which 1 28 interferes with the ability of a teacher to teach 1 29 effectively, and which warrants removal of a pupil 1 30 from the classroom. 1 31 b. A procedure for the notification of a parent or 1 32 guardian of a pupil that the pupil has been removed 1 33 from a classroom. 1 34 c. A procedure for determining the appropriate 1 35 alternative placement of a pupil who has been removed 1 36 from a classroom. 1 37 d. Provisions which are consistent with sections 1 38 280.21, 280.21B, 280.24, 282.4, and 282.5. 1 39 2. A teacher may remove a pupil from a classroom 1 40 for a violation of the school district's code of 1 41 classroom conduct. A pupil who has been removed from 1 42 a classroom shall immediately be sent to the office of 1 43 the school principal, and the pupil's parent or 1 44 guardian shall be notified of the removal." 1 45 #3.
