1 4 "DIVISION
1 5 DISPUTED BILLINGS
1 6 Sec. . DISPUTED BILLINGS.
1 7 1. To the extent allowable under federal law or
1 8 regulation, if the costs of a service are payable in
1 9 whole or in part by a county in accordance with a
1 10 chapter of the Code listed in this section, the
1 11 service was rendered prior to July 1, 1997, and the
1 12 county that would be obligated to pay for the costs of
1 13 the service has not been billed for the service or has
1 14 disputed the billing prior to the effective date of
1 15 this section, or the state has fully charged off the
1 16 cost of the service to an appropriation made in a
1 17 prior fiscal year or has not provided information to
1 18 appropriately document the basis for the billing, the
1 19 county shall have no obligation to pay for the
1 20 service.
1 21 2. This section is applicable to service costs
1 22 that are a county obligation under the following
1 23 chapters of the Code:
1 24 a. Chapter 222.
1 25 b. Chapter 230.
1 26 c. Chapter 249A.
1 27 Sec. . EFFECTIVE DATE – APPLICABILITY. This
1 28 division of this Act, being deemed of immediate
1 29 importance, takes effect upon enactment."
