  1  1    Amend House File 502, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 4, by inserting after line 7, the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec.    .  Section 717A.1, subsection 2, paragraph
  1  6 a, Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
  1  7    a.  Willfully destroy property of an animal
  1  8 facility, or kill or injure an animal maintained at an
  1  9 animal facility, including by an act of violence or
  1 10 the transmission of a disease including but not
  1 11 limited to any disease designated by the department of
  1 12 agriculture and land stewardship pursuant to section
  1 13 163.2.
  1 14    Sec.    .  Section 717A.1, subsection 2, paragraph
  1 15 c, subparagraph (2), Code 2001, is amended to read as
  1 16 follows:
  1 17    (2)  Injure Kill or injure an animal maintained at
  1 18 the animal facility."
  1 19    #2.  Page 4, line 14, by striking the word "The"
  1 20 and inserting the following:  "The This".
  1 21    #3.  Page 4, by inserting after line 16 the
  1 22 following:
  1 23    "   .  This section does not apply to a licensed
  1 24 veterinarian practicing veterinary medicine as
  1 25 provided in chapter 169 and according to customary
  1 26 standards of care."
  1 27    #4.  Page 6, by striking line 5, and inserting the
  1 28 following:
  1 29    "   .  A person who violates this section as it
  1 30 applies to a research crop or crop operation".
  1 31    #5.  Page 6, by striking line 18, and inserting the
  1 32 following:
  1 33    "   .  A person who violates this section as it
  1 34 applies to a crop other than a research crop".
  1 35    #6.  By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating
  1 36 and correcting internal references as necessary.
