  1  1    Amend Senate File 350, as passed by the Senate, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 8, by inserting after line 27 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec.    .  Section 321J.21, Code 2001, is amended
  1  6 to read as follows:
  1  7    321J.21  DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED, DENIED,
  1  8 REVOKED, OR BARRED.
  1  9    1.  A person whose driver's license or nonresident
  1 10 operating privilege has been suspended, denied,
  1 11 revoked, or barred due to a violation of this chapter
  1 12 and who drives a motor vehicle upon the highways of
  1 13 this state while the license or privilege is
  1 14 suspended, denied, revoked, or barred commits a
  1 15 serious misdemeanor.  In addition to any other
  1 16 penalties, the punishment imposed for a violation of
  1 17 this subsection shall include assessment of a fine of
  1 18 one thousand dollars.
  1 19    2.  In addition to the fine, the department, upon
  1 20 receiving the record of the conviction of a person
  1 21 under this section upon a charge of driving a motor
  1 22 vehicle on the highways of this state while the
  1 23 license of the person was suspended, denied, revoked,
  1 24 or barred shall extend the period of suspension,
  1 25 denial, revocation, or bar for an additional like
  1 26 period, and the department shall not issue a new
  1 27 license during the additional period."
  1 28    #2.  Title page, line 5, by inserting after the
  1 29 word "vehicles," the following:  "driving while
  1 30 suspended, denied, revoked, or barred,".
  1 31    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
