  1  1    Amend House File 670 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  By striking everything after the enacting
  1  3 clause and inserting the following:
  1  4    "Section 1.  NONTRADITIONAL PRACTITIONER
  1  5 PREPARATION INTERIM STUDY.  The legislative council is
  1  6 requested to authorize a nontraditional practitioner
  1  7 preparation interim study committee to review
  1  8 alternative or nontraditional practitioner preparation
  1  9 of teachers and administrators used in other states
  1 10 and to submit recommendations for changes or revisions
  1 11 to the current statutory practitioner preparation
  1 12 program requirements that address practitioner
  1 13 shortage areas while maintaining high levels of
  1 14 student achievement.  The study committee shall submit
  1 15 a report of its findings and recommendations to the
  1 16 senate and house of representatives standing
  1 17 committees on education on or before December 15,
  1 18 2001."
