  1  1    Amend House File 268 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 26 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  Section 805.8, subsection 2, paragraph
  1  5 g, subparagraph (4), Code 2001, is amended to read as
  1  6 follows:
  1  7    (4)  Notwithstanding subparagraphs (1) and (3), for
  1  8 excessive speed violations in speed zones greater than
  1  9 fifty-five miles per hour when in excess of the limit
  1 10 by five ten miles per hour or less the fine is ten one
  1 11 hundred dollars, by more than five and not more than
  1 12 ten miles per hour the fine is twenty dollars, by more
  1 13 than ten and not more than fifteen twenty miles per
  1 14 hour the fine is forty two hundred dollars, which is
  1 15 in addition to the one hundred dollar fine for
  1 16 speeding up to ten miles an hour over the limit, by
  1 17 more than fifteen and not more than twenty miles per
  1 18 hour the fine is sixty dollars, and by more than
  1 19 twenty miles per hour the fine is sixty two hundred
  1 20 dollars, which is in addition to the one hundred
  1 21 dollar fine for speeding up to ten miles an hour over
  1 22 the limit, plus two twenty-five dollars for each mile
  1 23 per hour of excessive speed over twenty miles per hour
  1 24 over the limit."
  1 25    #2.  Page 1, by inserting after line 26 the
  1 26 following:
  1 27    "Sec.    .  SPEEDING FINE INCREASES – ADDITIONAL
  1 28 STATE TROOPERS.  Notwithstanding sections 602.8106 and
  1 29 602.8108, any funds received annually resulting from
  1 30 the increase in fines for speeding under section
  1 31 805.8, subsection 2, paragraph "g", subparagraph (4),
  1 32 as amended by this Act, are appropriated and shall be
  1 33 available to the department of public safety for the
  1 34 support of up to twenty-five additional full-time
  1 35 equivalent positions.  The full-time equivalent
  1 36 positions authorized in this paragraph shall be used
  1 37 to hire twenty-five additional Iowa state patrol
  1 38 troopers.  The director of revenue and finance shall
  1 39 draw warrants upon the treasurer of state from the
  1 40 funds appropriated as provided in this section and
  1 41 shall make the funds resulting from the increase in
  1 42 fines available during the fiscal year to the
  1 43 department of public safety on a monthly basis."
  1 44    #3.  Title page, line 3, by striking the word
  1 45 "highways." and inserting the following:  "highways,
  1 46 and increasing fines and making an appropriation."
  1 47    #4.  By renumbering as necessary.
