1 1 Section 1. Section 282.31, Code 1999, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 6. If the space available for classroom
1 4 facilities at an area education agency is inadequate to
1 5 provide educational services to a child who is not enrolled in
1 6 the educational program of the district of residence and who
1 7 lives in a facility pursuant to section 282.30, subsection 1,
1 8 paragraph "a", the area education agency may enter into a
1 9 cost-sharing arrangement with the facility for the use of
1 10 classroom facilities at the approved shelter or juvenile
1 11 facility.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill permits an area education agency with
1 14 insufficient classroom space of its own to enter into a cost-
1 15 sharing agreement with an approved shelter or juvenile home
1 16 for classroom facilities at the shelter or juvenile home in
1 17 order to provide a child living in the home with educational
1 18 services on site.
