Senate Study Bill 3112

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 100.4, Code 1999, is repealed.
  1  2    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1  3 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.  
  1  4                           EXPLANATION
  1  5    This bill repeals Code section 100.4, which provides that
  1  6 the failure or refusal of a fire official to investigate and
  1  7 report on fires and make a report to the state fire marshal
  1  8 for certain fires, constitutes a simple misdemeanor.  The bill
  1  9 eliminates the criminal penalty but does not change the duty
  1 10 of local fire officials to report and investigate fires.
  1 11    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
