1 1 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES – EMBEDDED
1 2 CHIPS. There is appropriated from the rebuild Iowa
1 3 infrastructure fund to the division of information technology
1 4 services of the department of general services for the fiscal
1 5 year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999, to
1 6 supplement the moneys in the reversion incentive program fund
1 7 as provided in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 210, section 10, the
1 8 following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be
1 9 used for the purpose designated:
1 10 For the replacement of noncompliant year 2000 embedded
1 11 chips in the technology and equipment of state departments:
1 12 .................................................. $ 2,435,000
1 13 Moneys appropriated in this section shall be deposited into
1 14 the reversion incentive program fund created pursuant to 1997
1 15 Iowa Acts, chapter 210, section 10.
1 16 Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys appropriated in this
1 17 section which remain unencumbered or unobligated at the close
1 18 of the fiscal year shall not revert but shall remain available
1 19 for expenditure for the purpose designated until the close of
1 20 the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and any unobligated or
1 21 unencumbered moneys remaining on that date shall be credited
1 22 to the general fund of the state.
1 23 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 24 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
1 25 EXPLANATION
1 26 This bill makes a supplemental appropriation from the
1 27 rebuild Iowa infrastructure fund to the reversion incentive
1 28 program fund administered by the department of general
1 29 services. The appropriation is to be used for replacement of
1 30 noncompliant year 2000 embedded chips in the technology and
1 31 equipment of state departments.
1 32 The bill takes effect upon enactment.
