PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 249A.4, subsection 8, unnumbered 1 2 paragraph 1, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 Shall advise and consult at least semiannually with a 1 4 council composed of the presidents of the following 1 5 organizations, or a president's representative who is a member 1 6 of the organization represented by the president: the Iowa 1 7 medical society, the Iowa osteopathic medical association, the 1 8 Iowa academy of family physicians, the Iowa physical therapy 1 9 association, the Iowa state dental society, the Iowa state 1 10 nurses association, the Iowa pharmacists association, the Iowa 1 11 podiatry society, the Iowa optometric association, the 1 12community mental health centers association ofIowa 1 13 association of community providers, the Iowa psychological 1 14 association, the association of Iowa hospitals and health 1 15 systems, the Iowa association of rural health clinics, the 1 16 Iowa osteopathic hospital association, opticians' association 1 17 of Iowa, inc., the Iowa hearing aid society, the Iowa speech, 1 18 language, and hearing association, the Iowa health care 1 19 association, the Iowa association for home care, the Iowa 1 20 council of health care centers, the Iowa physician assistant 1 21 society, the Iowa association of nurse practitioners, the Iowa 1 22 occupational therapy association, and the Iowa association of 1 23 homes and services for the aging, the Iowa psychiatric nurse 1 24 managers network, the arc of Iowa which was formerly known as 1 25 the association for retarded citizens of Iowa, the alliance 1 26 for the mentally ill of Iowa, Iowa state association of 1 27 counties, and the Iowa governor's planning council for 1 28 developmental disabilities, together with one person 1 29 designated by the Iowa state board of chiropractic examiners; 1 30 one state representative from each of the two major political 1 31 parties appointed by the speaker of the house, one state 1 32 senator from each of the two major political parties appointed 1 33 by the president of the senate, after consultation with the 1 34 majority leader and the minority leader of the senate, each 1 35 for a term of two years; four public representatives, 2 1 appointed by the governor for staggered terms of two years 2 2 each, none of whom shall be members of, or practitioners of, 2 3 or have a pecuniary interest in any of the professions or 2 4 businesses represented by any of the several professional 2 5 groups and associations specifically represented on the 2 6 council under this subsection, and at least one of whom shall 2 7 be a recipient of medical assistance; the director of public 2 8 health, or a representative designated by the director; and 2 9 the dean of the college of medicine, university of Iowa, or a 2 10 representative designated by the dean. 2 11 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of 2 12 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment. 2 13 EXPLANATION 2 14 This bill changes a reference in the Code to the Iowa 2 15 association of community providers. The reference being 2 16 changed is to the community mental health centers association 2 17 of Iowa. The reference is in Code section 249A.4 which lists 2 18 the organizations with membership on the medical assistance 2 19 advisory council within the department of human services. 2 20 The bill takes effect upon enactment. 2 21 LSB 1914SC 78 2 22 jp/jw/5
