1 1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. ___
1 2 BY McLAREN, IVERSON, and GRONSTAL
1 3 A Senate Resolution recognizing the contribution of a
1 4 singular farm employee for his contribution to the
1 5 Senate during the 2000 Session of the Seventy-eighth
1 6 General Assembly.
1 7 WHEREAS, during the 2000 Session of the Seventy-
1 8 eighth General Assembly, the Senate has debated bills
1 9 and amendments by considering the consequences of
1 10 legislation on a singular employee running a farm in
1 11 Cedar county; and
1 12 WHEREAS, this employee, old beyond his years, is an
1 13 example of boundless energy and a tireless commitment
1 14 to his field during all hours of the day and night;
1 15 and
1 16 WHEREAS, in addition to his regular duties, this
1 17 employee, referred to affectionately on a first-name
1 18 basis by members of the Senate and staff, has
1 19 illuminated issues before the Senate, while never
1 20 attempting to lobby any Senator on legislation; and
1 21 WHEREAS, the old legislative maxim of "that dog
1 22 don't hunt" cannot be applied to the working life of
1 23 this farm employee who serves as a constant reminder
1 24 that when enacting legislation there is little room
1 25 for a shotgun approach; NOW THEREFORE,
1 26 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That before returning
1 27 home from hard days and long nights of work during the
1 28 2000 Session, the members of the Senate take pause to
1 29 recognize Old Blue for his shining contribution to the
1 30 consideration of legislation by the Senate; and
2 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this
2 2 resolution be delivered by the Secretary of the Senate
2 3 to the Honorable Senator Jack Rife for presentation to
2 4 Old Blue.
