1 2 BY FREEMAN
1 3 A Senate Resolution honoring native Iowan
1 4 and St. Louis Rams offensive lineman Adam Timmerman.
1 5 WHEREAS, Adam Timmerman was born and raised on a
1 6 farm outside of Cherokee, Iowa, and attended college
1 7 at South Dakota State where he was a four-year
1 8 football letterman, twice a winner of first-team
1 9 academic all-conference honors, and a recipient of the
1 10 Jim Langer Award, presented to the nation's top
1 11 Division II lineman; and
1 12 WHEREAS, Adam Timmerman was drafted by the Green
1 13 Bay Packers in 1995 and played as a starting offensive
1 14 lineman in every game of the 1996 season in which the
1 15 Packers won the National Football League championship,
1 16 winning Super Bowl XXX; and
1 17 WHEREAS, after starting every game of the 1997
1 18 season and helping the Packers to a Super Bowl XXXI
1 19 appearance, Adam Timmerman became a free agent in 1998
1 20 and was signed by the St. Louis Rams; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Adam Timmerman played an important role in
1 22 the remarkable turnaround of the St. Louis Rams
1 23 football team this season, helping the Rams win a
1 24 division championship, the National Football
1 25 Conference championship, and the National Football
1 26 League championship; and
1 27 WHEREAS, the Rams' Super Bowl XXXIV victory marks
1 28 Adam Timmerman's third Super Bowl appearance in four
1 29 years; and
1 30 WHEREAS, Adam Timmerman still returns annually to
2 1 the family farm near Cherokee to help his brother with
2 2 spring planting; and
2 3 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are extremely proud
2 4 of Adam Timmerman and admire the hard work,
2 5 determination, and integrity he has shown in achieving
2 6 his success; NOW THEREFORE,
2 7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That Adam Timmerman
2 8 be congratulated for his outstanding accomplishments
2 9 and be thanked for the excitement and inspiration he
2 10 has brought to the citizens of the State of Iowa.
