1 1 Section 1. Section 423.4, Code Supplement 1999, is amended
1 2 by adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 21. New truck chassis with a gross
1 4 vehicle weight rating of nineteen thousand pounds or more,
1 5 when purchased by a used motor vehicle dealer licensed under
1 6 chapter 322, which are to be modified by the mounting on the
1 7 chassis of municipal equipment, construction cranes, hook
1 8 loaders or related equipment and which are to be sold after
1 9 such modification. The used motor vehicle dealer may use the
1 10 modified motor vehicle for demonstration purposes without loss
1 11 of this exemption. Use tax shall be collected upon the
1 12 subsequent sale of the modified motor vehicle to a person
1 13 subject to the use tax.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 The bill exempts from the state use tax the purchase of new
1 16 truck chassis by a licensed used motor vehicle dealer which
1 17 are to be modified by the mounting on the chassis of municipal
1 18 equipment, construction cranes, hook loaders or related
1 19 equipment and which are to be sold after such modification.
1 20 Use tax shall be collected upon the sale of the modified
1 21 vehicle.
