1 1 Section 1. Section 25B.5, subsection 2, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 2. If a bill or joint resolution may include a state
1 4 mandate, a copy of the prepared draft shall be sent to the
1 5 legislative fiscal bureau which shall determine if the bill or
1 6 joint resolution contains a state mandate. If the bill or
1 7 joint resolution contains a state mandate and is still
1 8 eligible for consideration during the legislative session for
1 9 which the bill or joint resolution was drafted, the
1 10 legislative fiscal bureau shall prepare an estimate of the
1 11 amount of costs imposed after consultation with
1 12 representatives of the associations representing the affected
1 13 local governments.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill provides that if a bill or resolution may include
1 16 a state mandate, the legislative fiscal bureau shall prepare
1 17 an estimate of the cost imposed after consultation with the
1 18 representatives of the associations representing the local
1 19 governments affected by the state mandate.
