  1  4 CHANGING A CODE REFERENCE TO THE IOWA ASSOCIATION OF
  1  5    COMMUNITY PROVIDERS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 249A.4, subsection 8, unnumbered
  1 10 paragraph 1, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 11    Shall advise and consult at least semiannually with a
  1 12 council composed of the presidents of the following
  1 13 organizations, or a president's representative who is a member
  1 14 of the organization represented by the president:  the Iowa
  1 15 medical society, the Iowa osteopathic medical association, the
  1 16 Iowa academy of family physicians, the Iowa physical therapy
  1 17 association, the Iowa state dental society, the Iowa state
  1 18 nurses association, the Iowa pharmacists association, the Iowa
  1 19 podiatry society, the Iowa optometric association, the
  1 20 community mental health centers association of Iowa
  1 21 association of community providers, the Iowa psychological
  1 22 association, the association of Iowa hospitals and health
  1 23 systems, the Iowa association of rural health clinics, the
  1 24 Iowa osteopathic hospital association, opticians' association
  1 25 of Iowa, inc., the Iowa hearing aid society, the Iowa speech,
  1 26 language, and hearing association, the Iowa health care
  1 27 association, the Iowa association for home care, the Iowa
  1 28 council of health care centers, the Iowa physician assistant
  1 29 society, the Iowa association of nurse practitioners, the Iowa
  1 30 occupational therapy association, and the Iowa association of
  1 31 homes and services for the aging, the Iowa psychiatric nurse
  1 32 managers network, the arc of Iowa which was formerly known as
  1 33 the association for retarded citizens of Iowa, the alliance
  1 34 for the mentally ill of Iowa, Iowa state association of
  1 35 counties, and the Iowa governor's planning council for
  2  1 developmental disabilities, together with one person
  2  2 designated by the Iowa state board of chiropractic examiners;
  2  3 one state representative from each of the two major political
  2  4 parties appointed by the speaker of the house, one state
  2  5 senator from each of the two major political parties appointed
  2  6 by the president of the senate, after consultation with the
  2  7 majority leader and the minority leader of the senate, each
  2  8 for a term of two years; four public representatives,
  2  9 appointed by the governor for staggered terms of two years
  2 10 each, none of whom shall be members of, or practitioners of,
  2 11 or have a pecuniary interest in any of the professions or
  2 12 businesses represented by any of the several professional
  2 13 groups and associations specifically represented on the
  2 14 council under this subsection, and at least one of whom shall
  2 15 be a recipient of medical assistance; the director of public
  2 16 health, or a representative designated by the director; and
  2 17 the dean of the college of medicine, university of Iowa, or a
  2 18 representative designated by the dean.
  2 19    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  2 20 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
