1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 272.9B PERMANENT TEACHER
1 2 LICENSURE.
1 3 The board of educational examiners shall adopt rules
1 4 relating to issuance of a permanent license for teachers who
1 5 have met all of the following requirements:
1 6 1. Successfully completed an approved practitioner
1 7 preparation program and received a master's degree or a
1 8 professional degree beyond the baccalaureate degree, from an
1 9 accredited college or university with an approved practitioner
1 10 preparation program, in the subject to be taught.
1 11 2. Five years, at a minimum, of successful teaching
1 12 experience in the area for which the permanent license is
1 13 sought, as certified in writing to the board by the
1 14 superintendent of the school district, or the authorities in
1 15 charge of the accredited nonpublic school, which employs the
1 16 teacher.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill directs the board of educational examiners to
1 19 adopt rules relating to issuance of a permanent license for
1 20 teachers who have successfully completed an approved
1 21 practitioner preparation program and received a master's
1 22 degree or a professional degree beyond the baccalaureate
1 23 degree, from an accredited college or university with an
1 24 approved practitioner preparation program, in the subject to
1 25 be taught. Teachers must also have at least five years of
1 26 successful teaching experience in the area for which the
1 27 license is sought, which is to be certified in writing to the
1 28 board by the superintendent of the school district, or the
1 29 authorities in charge of the accredited nonpublic school,
1 30 which employs the teacher.
