1 1 Section 1. Section 142B.6, unnumbered paragraph 3, Code
1 2 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 Enforcement of this chapter shall be implemented by
1 4 department of inspections and appeals personnel, and by any
1 5 law enforcement officer in an equitable manner throughout the
1 6 state. For the purpose of equitable and uniform
1 7 implementation, application, and enforcement of state and
1 8 local laws and regulations, the provisions of this chapter
1 9 shall supersede any local law or regulation which is
1 10 inconsistent with or conflicts with the provisions of this
1 11 chapter.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill amends Code chapter 142B which restricts smoking
1 14 in certain public areas. The bill provides that personnel
1 15 from the department of inspections and appeals and law
1 16 enforcement officers shall enforce Code chapter 142B in an
1 17 equitable manner throughout the state.
