1 1 Section 1. Section 56.41, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
1 2 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 c. Personal services, including the services of attorneys,
1 4 accountants, physicians, and other professional persons.
1 5 However, payment for personal services directly related to
1 6 campaign activities is permitted, except that campaign funds
1 7 shall not be used to pay for services provided to a candidate
1 8 or a candidate's committee by, or for any other employment of,
1 9 anyone related to the candidate within the second degree of
1 10 consanguinity or affinity.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill amends Code section 56.41 to prohibit the use of
1 13 campaign funds to pay for employment of or services by anyone
1 14 related to the candidate within the second degree of
1 15 consanguinity or affinity.
1 16 A violation of the bill's provisions constitutes a serious
1 17 misdemeanor under Code section 56.16.
