1 1 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO.
1 2 BY TINSMAN
1 3 (COMPANION TO LSB 7351HH BY HEATON)
1 4 A Senate Concurrent Resolution requesting the
1 5 legislative council to establish one or more interim
1 6 committees to study human services issues.
1 7 WHEREAS, the joint appropriations subcommittee on
1 8 human services has considered several complex issues
1 9 involving human services but additional review is
1 10 needed in order to make a final decision regarding the
1 11 issues; and
1 12 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to utilize the
1 13 legislative interim for detailed review of particular
1 14 issues; NOW THEREFORE,
1 15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF
1 16 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, That the legislative
1 17 council is requested to establish one or more interim
1 18 committees to study the following human services
1 19 issues:
1 20 1. Practices relating to prior authorization under
1 21 the medical assistance program of nonsedating
1 22 antihistamines for children.
1 23 2. The provision of pharmacy services using the
1 24 internet.
1 25 3. The electronic benefit transfer program for
1 26 provision of public assistance, including the type of
1 27 equipment to be utilized under the program and fees to
1 28 be paid to retailers.
1 29 4. The department of human services' action plan
1 30 for reimbursement methodologies.
2 1 5. Alternatives to placement of males at the Iowa
2 2 juvenile home at Toledo; and
2 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That to the extent
2 4 possible, the legislative council should appoint
2 5 members of the joint appropriations subcommittee on
2 6 human services to any interim committee established
2 7 pursuant to this resolution.
