1 3 #1. Page 27, by inserting after line 23 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Sec. . SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY – STUDY. The
1 6 legislative council is requested to establish a
1 7 legislative interim committee to study issues
1 8 concerning the operation of the sex offender registry
1 9 program pursuant to chapter 692A. The committee
1 10 should be directed to assess the current effectiveness
1 11 of the sex offender registry program and to consider,
1 12 among other issues, the method of determining
1 13 placement on the registry, the timeliness of
1 14 information placed on the registry, and the
1 15 dissemination of information on the registry. In
1 16 conducting its study, the committee should examine the
1 17 effectiveness of sex offender registry programs in
1 18 other states and should consider testimony from
1 19 interested stakeholders involved in Iowa's sex
1 20 offender registry program at both the state and local
1 21 level. The interim committee should submit a report,
1 22 including its findings and recommendations, to the
1 23 general assembly for the 2001 legislative session."
