  1  1    Amend Senate File 2453 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 3, by inserting before line 16 the
  1  3 following:  
  1  4                "DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
  1  5    Sec.    .  There is appropriated from the rebuild
  1  6 Iowa infrastructure fund to the department of
  1  7 education for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000,
  1  8 and ending June 30, 2001, the following amounts, or so
  1  9 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
  1 10 purpose designated:
  1 11    For fire safety grants to the local school
  1 12 districts for repair of building violations of the
  1 13 fire code or significant fire safety deficiencies
  1 14 identified by state or local officials:  
  1 15 .................................................. $  3,400,000"
  1 16    #2.  By numbering, renumbering, and correcting
  1 17 internal references as necessary.
