1 2 #1. Page 3, by inserting after line 13 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "6. Notwithstanding chapter 22, the Iowa
1 5 telecommunications and technology commission may
1 6 engage in the sale, offering for sale, rental,
1 7 leasing, licensing, delivery, distributing, or
1 8 advertising of goods or services related to the
1 9 network. Such goods and services may include, but are
1 10 not limited to, consulting services; network
1 11 development, engineering, design, and configuration
1 12 services; plans, renderings, and diagrams; network and
1 13 system maintenance services; software and software
1 14 development; and hardware and hardware development.
1 15 The commission may seek legal protection deemed
1 16 necessary to secure any rights to or interests in such
1 17 goods or services, including but not limited to,
1 18 federal copyright, patent, and trademark protections,
1 19 and any trade secret protection available under
1 20 chapter 550. The commission may keep confidential any
1 21 information relating to such goods and services to the
1 22 extent such information constitutes trade secrets or
1 23 is otherwise protected under law, or if the release of
1 24 such information would result in a competitor having
1 25 any advantage with respect to the network."
