1 4 "Sec. . IOWA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
1 5 SYSTEM – PENSION PORTABILITY STUDY – REPORT. The
1 6 Iowa public employees' retirement system division
1 7 shall conduct a study to consider various proposals to
1 8 provide persons covered under the Iowa public
1 9 employees' retirement system increased portability of
1 10 pensions earned prior to coverage under the Iowa
1 11 public employees' retirement system and of the pension
1 12 earned under the Iowa public employees' retirement
1 13 system. In conducting its study, the Iowa public
1 14 employees' retirement system division shall consider
1 15 proposals for allowing employees covered under the
1 16 Iowa public employees' retirement system to purchase
1 17 additional service credit under the Iowa public
1 18 employees' retirement system based on prior public
1 19 sector or private sector employment that is not
1 20 covered under the system as well as proposals for
1 21 enhancing the ability of employees covered under the
1 22 Iowa public employees' retirement system to transfer a
1 23 greater portion of the value of the pension earned
1 24 under the Iowa public employees' retirement system to
1 25 another pension plan upon the employee's termination
1 26 of employment covered by the Iowa public employees'
1 27 retirement system. On or before September 1, 2001,
1 28 the Iowa public employees' retirement system division
1 29 shall file a report with the legislative service
1 30 bureau, for distribution to the public retirement
1 31 systems committee established in section 97D.4, which
1 32 contains its findings and recommendations, including
1 33 any proposal or proposals for enhancing pension
1 34 portability for persons covered by the Iowa public
1 35 employees' retirement system. The report shall also
1 36 contain any applicable actuarial information
1 37 concerning the costs of any proposal or proposals
1 38 included in the report."
