1 3 #1. Page 16, by inserting after line 18 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Sec. . Section 50.19, unnumbered paragraph 2,
1 6 Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 7 Material pertaining to elections for federal
1 8 offices, including voted ballots, precinct election
1 9 registers, declarations of eligibility signed by
1 10 voters, documents relating to absentee ballots, and
1 11 challenges of voters, shall be preserved for twenty-
1 12 two months after the election. If a contest is not
1 13 pending the materials may be destroyed at the end of
1 14 the retention period.
1 15 Sec. . Section 50.19, Code 1999, is amended by
1 16 adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 17 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. Unvoted ballots for all
1 18 elections may be destroyed ten days following the
1 19 deadline to contest the election for which the ballots
1 20 were prepared or the day after final determination of
1 21 all pending contests of the election for which the
1 22 ballots were prepared, whichever is later."
