1 1 Amend Senate File 459 as follows:
1 2 #1. Page 11, by inserting after line 15 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. 100. TEACHER LAYOFF PREVENTION FUND. There
1 5 is appropriated for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 6 1999, from the general fund of the state, to the
1 7 school budget review committee, the sum of five
1 8 million dollars to be used to offset the layoff of
1 9 licensed instructional staff in school districts
1 10 experiencing licensed instructional staff layoffs. A
1 11 school district which is experiencing layoffs of
1 12 licensed instructional staff may submit an application
1 13 for funding to offset the layoffs to the school budget
1 14 review committee by August 1, 1999. The application
1 15 shall include an explanation by the school district of
1 16 the circumstances leading to the layoffs, a statement
1 17 of the amount requested by the school district, and a
1 18 plan for allocation of funding received. The
1 19 department shall establish procedures and criteria by
1 20 which teacher layoff prevention funding shall be
1 21 awarded. If the amount appropriated in this section
1 22 is insufficient to fully fund the requests received
1 23 and granted by the school budget review committee,
1 24 funding shall be prorated based on the ratio by which
1 25 the amount of funding requested by a school district
1 26 for which funding has been granted bears to the total
1 27 amount of funding requested by all school districts
1 28 for which funding has been granted."

1 30 "of" the following: "and 100".
