1 2 #1. Page 4, by inserting after line 28 the
1 3 following:
1 4 "Sec. . NEW SECTION. 56.5B LIMITATIONS ON
1 5 CONTRIBUTIONS.
1 6 1. A political committee shall not make
1 7 contributions that, during any election campaign
1 8 cycle, in the aggregate exceed the following:
1 9 a. Two thousand dollars to any candidate or
1 10 candidate's committee for a statewide office.
1 11 b. Five hundred dollars to any candidate or
1 12 candidate's committee for the Iowa senate.
1 13 c. Two hundred fifty dollars to any candidate or
1 14 candidate's committee for the Iowa house of
1 15 representatives.
1 16 2. A candidate or candidate's committee shall not
1 17 knowingly accept any contribution in violation of this
1 18 section.
1 19 3. For purposes of this section:
1 20 a. "Election campaign cycle" means the period of
1 21 time between any general or special election
1 22 commencing on the day following the previous election
1 23 for that office and continuing through election day.
1 24 b. "Political committee" shall not include a state
1 25 statutory political committee, county statutory
1 26 political committee, city statutory political
1 27 committee, or national political party.
1 28 c. "Statewide office" means the office of any of
1 29 the state officers listed in section 39.9.
1 30 4. This section shall not apply to the following:
1 31 a. Contributions to Iowa candidates for the United
1 32 States senate or house of representatives, or to any
1 33 other candidate for federal office.
1 34 b. Transfers of campaign funds made pursuant to
1 35 section 56.42."
1 36 #2. Title page, line 1, by striking the words
1 37 "disclosure by" and inserting the following: ", by
1 38 limiting certain contributions,".
1 39 #3. By renumbering as necessary.
