  1  1    Amend Senate File 136 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 38, by inserting after line 27 the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  MACHINE, EQUIPMENT, AND COMPUTERS
  1  5 PROPERTY TAX.
  1  6    1.  By January 15, 2000, the department of economic
  1  7 development shall prepare and submit a report to the
  1  8 general assembly regarding the phase out of the
  1  9 machine, equipment, and computers property tax
  1 10 including at least the following:
  1 11    a.  The estimated impact on Iowa taxing
  1 12 jurisdictions.
  1 13    b.  Recommendations for the modification or
  1 14 extension of the reimbursement formula.
  1 15    2.  The department may convene an advisory
  1 16 committee of local and state officials and technical
  1 17 experts to assist in the review of the phase out of
  1 18 the machine, equipment, and computers property tax."
  1 19    #2.  By renumbering as necessary.
