1 1 Section 1. Section 257.20, subsection 2, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. c. For the budget year beginning July 1,
1 4 2000, there is appropriated from the general fund of the state
1 5 to the department of education, in addition to the amount
1 6 appropriated pursuant to paragraph "a", an amount equal to
1 7 fifty percent of the difference between the amount of
1 8 instructional support state aid determined under subsection 1
1 9 for the budget year beginning July 1, 2000, and the amount of
1 10 moneys appropriated pursuant to paragraph "a" as instructional
1 11 support state aid for the budget year which commenced July 1,
1 12 1992. Paragraph "b" shall apply in determining the amount of
1 13 instructional support aid to be provided to school districts
1 14 pursuant to this paragraph.
1 15 EXPLANATION
1 16 This bill provides for an appropriation for the budget year
1 17 beginning July 1, 2000, from the general fund of the state to
1 18 the department of education of an amount equal to 50 percent
1 19 of the difference between the amount of instructional support
1 20 state aid determined under Code section 257.20, subsection 1,
1 21 and the amount of moneys appropriated as instructional support
1 22 state aid for the budget year which commenced July 1, 1992.
1 23 The bill provides for proration of this amount. The bill
1 24 provides that this amount will be in addition to the amount
1 25 appropriated as instructional support state aid for the budget
1 26 year which commenced July 1, 1992.
