1 1 Section 1. Section 496C.2, subsection 4, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 4. "Profession" means the profession of certified public
1 4 accountancy, architecture, chiropractic, dentistry, physical
1 5 therapy, psychology, professional engineering, land surveying,
1 6 landscape architecture, law, medicine and surgery, optometry,
1 7 osteopathy, osteopathic medicine and surgery, accounting
1 8 practitioner, podiatry, speech pathology, audiology,
1 9 veterinary medicine, pharmacy, the practice of social work by
1 10 an independent social worker as defined in section 154C.1,
1 11 subsection 3, paragraph "c", and the practice of nursing.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides for the addition of the practice of
1 14 social work by an independent social worker to the list of
1 15 professions which are authorized to form a professional
1 16 corporation pursuant to the Iowa professional corporation Act
1 17 contained in Code chapter 496C. An independent social worker
1 18 is defined in section 154C.1, subsection 3, paragraph "c" to
1 19 refer to a social worker qualified to perform the practice of
1 20 master social workers as a private practice.
