1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 249A.15A PHYSICIANS ELIGIBLE FOR
1 2 PAYMENT.
1 3 A physician, as defined in section 135.1, who is licensed
1 4 in this state, is entitled to payment for services provided to
1 5 recipients of medical assistance, subject to limitations and
1 6 exclusions the department finds necessary on the basis of
1 7 federal laws and regulations and of funds available for the
1 8 medical assistance program. The department shall adopt rules
1 9 pursuant to chapter 17A to administer this section.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill requires the department of human services to
1 12 adopt rules that entitle physicians to payment for services
1 13 provided to recipients of medical assistance. The payment is
1 14 subject to limitations and exclusions based on federal law and
1 15 regulations and by funds available for the medical assistance
1 16 program. As defined under the bill, the term "physician"
1 17 means allopathic and osteopathic physicians, osteopaths,
1 18 chiropractors, podiatrists, and optometrists.
