1 1 Section 1. Section 125.78, subsection 2, Code Supplement
1 2 1999, is amended by striking the subsection and inserting in
1 3 lieu thereof the following:
1 4 2. Cause copies of the application and supporting
1 5 documentation to be sent to the county attorney or the county
1 6 attorney's attorney-designate for review.
1 7 Sec. 2. Section 125.76, Code 1999, is repealed.
1 8 EXPLANATION
1 9 This bill amends certain procedures for substance abuse
1 10 commitments under Code chapter 125.
1 11 The bill amends Code section 125.78 to require, similar to
1 12 the procedure for involuntary hospitalizations under Code
1 13 chapter 229, that applications for substance abuse commitments
1 14 be sent to the county attorney.
1 15 The bill repeals Code section 125.76 relating to
1 16 appointment of counsel for an applicant.
