1 1 Section 1. Section 422.45, subsection 26, paragraph b,
1 2 Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 b. The farm machinery and equipment shall constitute self-
1 4 propelled implements or implements customarily drawn or
1 5 attached to self-propelled implements or the farm machinery or
1 6 equipment is a grain dryer or used in the grain drying
1 7 process. Machinery or equipment used in the grain drying
1 8 process includes augers, spreaders, and other machinery and
1 9 equipment used in the grain drying process whether affixed to
1 10 the grain bin or not. The grain bin and grain leg are not
1 11 part of the drying process.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 The bill expands the exemption from the sales and use taxes
1 14 on farm machinery and equipment as it relates to grain drying.
1 15 Presently, farm machinery or equipment that is a grain dryer
1 16 is exempt. The bill expands the exemption to include
1 17 machinery and equipment used in the grain drying process,
1 18 including augers, spreaders, and other machinery and equipment
1 19 whether affixed to the grain bin or not. However, the grain
1 20 bin and grain leg are not exempt.
