1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 364.25 RETIREE HEALTH CARE.
1 2 A city may provide health or medical insurance coverage or
1 3 supplemental health or medical insurance coverage to retired
1 4 employees of the city. A city providing health or medical
1 5 insurance coverage pursuant to this section may establish such
1 6 requirements or restrictions concerning the coverage provided
1 7 as the city may adopt. If coverage is provided, the cost of
1 8 the health or medical insurance coverage may be paid from
1 9 moneys held in a trust and agency fund established pursuant to
1 10 section 384.6, or out of an appropriation from the city
1 11 general fund for this purpose.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill authorizes cities to provide retired city
1 14 employees with health or medical insurance coverage, or
1 15 supplemental coverage, and to pay for such coverage from
1 16 amounts held in a trust and agency fund of the city or from an
1 17 appropriation from the city general fund.
