1 3 A House Resolution congratulating the Iowa
1 4 State Cyclones Wrestling Team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are justly proud that
1 6 the Iowa State Wrestling Team took first place at the
1 7 2000 Cliff Keen/National Wrestling Coaches Association
1 8 National Dual Championships, and finished in second
1 9 place at the Big 12 Championships and at the National
1 10 Collegiate Athletic Association Championships (NCAA);
1 11 and
1 12 WHEREAS, the Iowa State Wrestling Team individually
1 13 received five All-America honors, and the award for
1 14 the NCAA Championships' Most Outstanding Wrestler for
1 15 the second straight year, making the first time a
1 16 wrestler has won the award two years in a row; and
1 17 WHEREAS, the team members are to be congratulated
1 18 on their individual efforts, without which team
1 19 success would not be possible; and
1 20 WHEREAS, the Iowa State Wrestling Team is also to
1 21 be congratulated on its academic successes, in that
1 22 six of the Cyclone wrestlers were on the 2000
1 23 Wrestling Academic All-Big 12 Team; and
1 24 WHEREAS, Head Coach Bobby Douglas was named Big 12
1 25 Coach of the Year for the second year in a row; NOW
1 26 THEREFORE,
1 27 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 28 That the House of Representatives congratulates the
1 29 Iowa State Wrestling Team, Head Coach Bobby Douglas,
1 30 and his coaching staff on their successful season,
2 1 thanks them for the honor and excitement they brought
2 2 to the State of Iowa, and wishes them the very best in
2 3 the future.
