1 3 A House Resolution to honor Shelley Fabares for her
1 4 contributions to the memory of Donna Reed.
1 5 WHEREAS, Shelley Fabares, a successful performing
1 6 artist in television, film, and song, played the
1 7 teenage daughter of Denison native Donna Reed on "The
1 8 Donna Reed Show" for eight seasons; and
1 9 WHEREAS, Shelley Fabares was a key member in the
1 10 formation of the Donna Reed Foundation in 1987; and
1 11 WHEREAS, the Donna Reed Foundation, based in
1 12 Denison, Iowa, honors the accomplishments of Donna
1 13 Reed and operates to recognize, encourage, and support
1 14 talented individuals pursuing an education and career
1 15 in the performing arts; and
1 16 WHEREAS, the Donna Reed Foundation provides a
1 17 national scholarship program for the support of
1 18 performing arts students, conducts an annual festival
1 19 of performing arts workshops taught by industry
1 20 professionals from across the nation, and works
1 21 towards supporting a performing arts center based in
1 22 Denison dedicated to developing new artists; and
1 23 WHEREAS, Shelley Fabares has been actively involved
1 24 in the Donna Reed Foundation since its inception and
1 25 currently serves as President of its Board of
1 26 Directors; NOW THEREFORE,
1 27 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
1 28 That the House of Representatives honor Shelley
1 29 Fabares, recognizing her contributions to the memory
1 30 of Donna Reed and her deep commitment to helping and
2 1 educating young performing artists.
